Winter field comms & mobility

Sometimes the best way to enjoy living at 65°N, is just to accept where you are, and deal with it!

Today my winter field kit included :

  • Skipulk
  • Table
  • Folding chair
  • Yaesu FT-817ND
  • Chameleon P-LOOP 2.0
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab Active
  • ZLP MINIPROSC
  • Large base tripod

I worked 2 stations on 20m before tearing it all down and heading home.

The ability to carry gear comfortably, is critical to amateur field communications.  Trying to hump everything in an overloaded pack, just makes us hate heading out to the field. The skipulk works so well,  I’ve been pulling it behind me when walking the dogs for about the last 10 days. It’s that easy.

The springtime is going to arrive here in about a month. I think it’s time to consider what type of non-winter mobility I’ll use.
