Grid-Down Emergency Communications is now available worldwide on Amazon in Kindle and print formats. It is also available directly via Patreon and Ko-fi as a print-ready PDF for those who prefer local printing or offline storage. This book focuses on the methods and strategies needed to keep your communications network functioning when the electrical grid and normal infrastructure fail. It explains how to plan, organize, and operate effective HF and VHF communications during long outages, with an emphasis on practical fixed and field procedures, efficient data communications, power discipline, and group coordination. The goal is to give you a reliable framework for staying connected in real grid-down conditions.
This book is written from a preparedness and field-operations perspective, not a hobby-radio mindset. It focuses on communications planning, procedures, and decision-making under real grid-down conditions where power is limited, infrastructure is unreliable or gone, and stress and uncertainty are the norm. The emphasis is on systems that still work when ideal conditions do not.
There are two printed editions.
The paperback is compact and designed to be practical. It is the version you throw in a pack, vehicle, or gear bag so it is there when you need it.
The hardcover is slightly larger, with more comfortable text size and spacing. It is intended for reference use, training, and long reading sessions where durability and readability matter more than portability.
If you have been following this project from the early drafts, Patreon/ko-fi previews, or field notes, this is the finalized release version. The concepts, frameworks, and procedures here are meant to be used, tested, and adapted, not just read. The worst thing you can do for your own communications preparedness is toss it in a bag and assume you will figure it out when you need it.
